Adventures in Maternity Shopping

A few weeks ago, I took Ben and Erik with me maternity shopping to get a much needed skirt and some khakis for work. Maternity shopping with boys, ages 6 and 3. Impossible, right? Actually, they loved it. I lucked out because the store had a huge chart hanging in front of the window showing all of the lovely options in belly styles available these days. You know "Underbelly," "All-Around Belly" "Mid Belly." There were about 12 all lined up and illustrated on this huge chart (as in the photo above). Well, as soon as Ben a.k.a "Science Kid" and his loyal sidekick, Erik, saw the chart, they were in heaven! I found some things to try on and shepherded them all in the fitting room with me. I would try something on and Ben and Erik would exclaim, "What kind of belly is it!?" As I rejected items, they would take the article of clothing and scoot out of the fitting room, up to the front of the store, and stand in front of the chart in the window. As I tried the next thing on, I could hear Ben and Erik comparing and discussing which belly style on the chart best represented what they were holding in their hands. This went on for 15 minutes. They were thoroughly entertained by this (not to mention the other people in the store were entertained by them) and I got just what I needed.

Mission Accomplished!
